I can’t believe I’ve lived in downtown for over a year and am now just finding out about this cafe! I love going to local coffee shops and have been branching out lately and I’m so glad to have tried semilla, the vibes were immaculate legit best vibes of a cafe in Hartford thus far. The coconut late is so delicious and refreshing and smooth and creamy honestly the best latte I’ve had in a while it didn’t need anything more to it, was made perfect to order. The throwback was absolutely delicious and I can see myself wanting to come here multiple times a week lol I’d recommend you give them a try you’ll not regret it!!

Lovely friendly cafe, has a public art supply area and studio to make crafts as well as a free public library. Many resources and newspapers and games to play and things to look at. We got a coconut latte and it was definitively the best coconut latte I've ever had. Very fantastic vibes and good food and drink.

The most beautiful cafe, nice ambiance. Great lattes with seasonal flavors. Their classic bec on coco bread is to die for with the spicy mango sauce. The coconut latte is so good!!!! Will def come back when im in the area.

This is probably one of the best coffees I’ve ever had! Truly made with love and passion! The coconut latte was a dream the staff is so kind and welcoming as well and the cafe itself is very cool I highly recommend trying them out!!!

Had stopped here before a hike. Coco bread is so delicious. The egg delicious. All fresh. Drinks were unique and yummy. Thank you for the warm welcoming gift of being part of this experience. Thank you.

My definition of a perfect cafe. Excellent coffee/lattes in a warm, cozy artistic atmosphere. Every staff member I've interacted with were polite, informative and quick! They also serve food and pastries, all which are reasonably priced alongside their beverage selection. I absolutely love the fact that they have a free mini library where you can take a book as long as you leave one behind, and they have an art supply room that's absolutely stacked with different types of supplies that you can take for free. It's a system that relies on donations, so feel free to drop some supplies off if you have any extras laying around. They also host events in the evening time such a spoken word, gallery displays, etc that you can easily keep track of by looking at their social media handles such as Instagram. Definitely check this cafe out if you're in the area!

I found Semilla on Instagram after a few of my friends told me about it and I finally went and now I’m obsessed. This place literally feels like a hug. Their IG bio says it’s a “neighborhood living room” and that’s exactly what it is. It’s so cozy, the furniture is comfy, the books are such a nice touch, and there are so many cool things to look at. The vibe is just really beautiful and peaceful. Everything I’ve tried has been amazing. I love that a lot of the sandwiches are on coco bread—it goes with everything. The baked goods are so good and the drinks are even better. My new hyper fixation is the iced coconut latte. I could drink it every day. Also, the guys that work there are super friendly. This place is a whole experience. 10/10.

Impressed is an understatement. Since being back in the office three days a week, I’ve been trying all of the local coffee shops and this by far ranks top tier in downtown. I got the coconut latte with almond milk and their classic breakfast sandwich. I’ve never had such a flavorful latte. As I waited, I was incredibly impressed with the different media they had from local organizations, movements, and news. This is worth a stop on a regular cadence.

Lovely, friendly, affirming cafe. I’m usually a black coffee drinker but got the saffron latte with oak milk. What a treat! Will be back the next time we are in Hartford.

A community gem with the best vibe!!! For some reason, I was immediately emotionally connected!! This coffee shop is so much more than a place to grab a drink — it truly feels like a community living room. The atmosphere is warm, creative, and welcoming the moment you walk in. There are art supplies available to use, free books to borrow, and games to play, which makes it a space you actually want to stay in and enjoy. The cold brew I had today was incredible — smooth, flavorful, and clearly made with care. On top of that, the owner’s customer service was outstanding . She is kind, genuine, and passionate about what they’ve built here. I’m so grateful to my son and his gf for recommending we stop in after being at the UConn game. Places like this are rare and so important to a community. If you’re looking for great coffee, a cozy creative space, and a shop that truly cares about people, this is it. Highly recommend supporting this local gem!!! Convenient to the XL Center, Yard Goats, Downtown and the Highway. Support a local small business! 📚🖌️🎨☕️♥️
